A man was seriously wounded in a shooting early Sunday in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 40-year-old man was standing outside in the 3000 block of North Milwaukee about 1:10 a.m. when shots were fired, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The man was shot multiple times in the arm and back and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was in serious condition, Greer said.
