A 36-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded Sunday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The shooting happened about 2 p.m. near the intersection of 111th Street and Vernon Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said, citing preliminary information.

The man was shot in the back and taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Sedevic said.

Details on the circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately available.
