Congress had another very bad year winning Americans’ approval

Americans’ job approval rating of Congress remained at near-record lows in 2014, a new Gallup poll shows.

Congress’ approval rating this year sits at 15 percent, up slightly from last year’s record-setting 14 percent, making it the sixth time in seven years the approval rating has been less than 20 percent.

From Gallup:

“After peaking in 2001 at 56%, a high figure that reflected the rally in support for government institutions after the 9/11 terror attacks, Americans’ approval of Congress has generally been dropping each year, with the exception of the spike in 2009.”

Unlike previous years where the controlling party enjoyed more favorable approval ratings, that hasn’t been the case of late. Americans are willing to spread the blame.
