Dan Hampton proposes waterboarding Bears coaches

What do Bears Hall of Famer Dan Hampton and former vice president Dick Cheney have in common?

Both appeared on NBC on Sunday to condone torture.

Hampton followed Cheney’s remarks on Meet the Press with his usual appearance for Sunday night sports talk.

“I think it’s time we waterboard all these coaches and find out exactly what they’re saying about all the players,” Hampton said. “We’ll get to the bottom of this. ‘Waterboard Mel Tucker and see if he knows how to line up in a 4-3!’”

Hampton preceded those comments by confusing common punctuation.

“I don’t think there’s any question,” Hampton said, “that when their head coach comes out after an incident like this and says ‘After considering every option we’ve decided to do nothing,’ that just puts the apostrophe on the bizarro world that this season has been.”
