(LINCOLNSHIRE) A man was arrested earlier this month in California for committing identity theft in north suburban Lincolnshire, according to police.
Police in Sacramento and San Jose arrested Kelvin J. Burt, 26, on Dec. 2 on an outstanding arrest warrant from Lake County charging aggravated identity theft and money laundering, Lincolnshire police said in a statement. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service also assisted.
Burt, an employee of a company contracted by Aon, is accused of committing a series of identity thefts in Aon’s office at 4 Overlook Point in Lincolnshire, police said.
A series of search warrants for the fraud were executed prior to the arrest, police said. During the searches, police seized documents, electronic equipment and other items.
Burt, of 2200 block 83rd Avenue in Oakland, Calif., was transported to Santa Clara County Jail, where he is being held on a $1.5 million bond awaiting extradition, police said.
He will appear in bond court in Lake County in the “upcoming weeks,” police said.
