Report: Wrigley Field bleachers may not be ready for opening day

The Cubs are preparing contingency plans in case the Wrigley Field bleachers are not ready in time for opening day on April 5.

According to 670 The Score’s Bruce Levine, the Cubs will relocate fans and play with closed bleachers if they have to. They’ll also refund or relocate season-ticket holders in the bleachers.

The Cubs’ home opener, on a Sunday, will be a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Cardinals.

According to The Associated Press, unseasonably cold weather is partly to blame for the potential setback.

Cubs spokesman Julian Green told the AP that city of Chicago crews are installing a new water main, which is also keeping the Cubs from starting deep foundational work.

The Cubs are in the first phase of a $575 million renovation.
