Armed robbers targeting women in vehicles in South Shore

Police are searching for robbers who held up at least three women at gunpoint as the victims were getting out of their vehicles last month in the South Shore neighborhood.

The robberies happened between Yates Boulevard and Coles Avenue, and between 71st and 72nd streets, police said in a community alert.

In each case, the one or two men approached women as they were getting out of their cars and displayed a handgun, police said. In two of the robberies, the weapon shown was a black handgun.

The suspects are described as men between the ages of 18 and 25, one of whom is heavy-set, police said.
