Streaking Warriors too hot for Bulls

Golden State defeated the Bulls 112-102 on Saturday. It was the Warriors’ 12th consecutive victory, a franchise record, and it left the Bulls with a 2-5 record at the United Center.

Jimmy Butler (24 points) and Pau Gasol (22 points, 20 rebounds) led the Bulls. But the Warriors, led by Draymond Green (31 points) and Klay Thompson (24), showed why they’ve gotten off to the best start in the NBA. The mistake-prone Bulls had 22 turnovers; the Warriors had 11.

‘‘The turnovers got us,’’ coach Tom Thibodeau said.

‘‘Nothing was good tonight. Nothing,’’ Joakim Noah said.

Taj Gibson, returning from an ankle sprain that sidelined him for six games, had 12 points and seven rebounds.

McDermott still out

Just when rookie Doug McDermott (right knee) seemed ready to return, he was sidelined for a third consecutive game.

Team physician Brian Cole examined McDermott on Saturday night. The puzzling part is that McDermott practiced Friday and seemed all right during the morning shootaround, then experienced a problem.

‘‘He was fine yesterday,’’ Thibodeau said, ‘‘pretty good in the shootaround this morning, then it flared up.’’

Adams good fit for Kerr

As a first-year coach, Steve Kerr wanted some experienced voices around him. He certainly got that in Ron Adams, the blunt former Bulls assistant.

‘‘I love that about Ron,’’ Kerr said. ‘‘I wanted a truth-teller, somebody who wasn’t afraid to say, ‘Boy, you screwed that up.’ That’s Ron. We’ve had our dustups, in a productive way. We don’t agree on everything. But we have a ton of respect for each other, and we enjoy each other’s company. I couldn’t ask for anything more.’’

Thibodeau is happy for his close friend Adams.

‘‘You know how I feel about Ron as a coach,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘He’s one of the top five coaches in this league, period. Steve put together a great staff.’’

Recharging Gasol

Kerr is not surprised that Gasol, 34, has been rejuvenated by joining the Bulls in his 14th NBA season.

‘‘Watching Pau the last couple of years as an analyst,’’ Kerr said, ‘‘he just looked unhappy. He wasn’t in the right fit. It was a [Lakers] team that was on the descent; he just looked spiritually spent.

‘‘I know he has a lot of wear and tear, but sometimes at that stage in your career, when you’ve won titles and made plenty of money, it’s more about the spiritual lift than anything.’’
