SHARE Burglars targeting Northwest Side garages

Police issued a community alert Tuesday warning of a recent string of garage burglaries in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The burglars break into the garages of homes and steal property, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

The burglaries happened:

—in the 4000 block of North Major between 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 19;

—in the 5000 block of West Cullom between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Nov. 22-23;

—in the 5000 block of West Cullom between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Nov. 22-23;

—in the 4200 block of North Melvina between 12 and 6 a.m. on Nov. 26;

—in the 4000 block of North Moody between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Nov. 25-26.

Residents are advised to make sure all doors and windows are locked, keep the perimeter of properties well it, and pay attention to anyone suspicious loitering in the area.
