Police are warning residents about a series of home burglaries reported over the past month in the Beverly neighborhood on the South Side.

At least five burglaries were reported between Sept. 5 and Oct. 7, according to a community alert from Morgan Park District police. In each case, the burglar broke the glass out of a rear door in order to unlock them and steal items from within the homes.

The burglaries were reported between Bell and Damen avenues, from the 9000 to 10300 blocks, police said.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 black man between 18 and 20 years old, police said. He was last seen carrying a backpack and wearing a red baseball cap, a blue checkered shirt and blue jeans.

Anybody with information about the burglaries or the suspect is asked to contact Area South detectives at (312) 747-8273.
