Former high school coach sentenced to 6 years in prison for child pornography

A former Plainfield North High School teacher and wrestling coach was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge.

Max Estes was arrested at his Chicago apartment in the summer of 2013 for having at least three video files containing the illegal material on his laptop.

Cook County Prosecutors said forensic analysis of the computer revealed that Estes, 27, downloaded videos and still images of child porn.

Estes, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty before Judge Jorge Alonso, court records show.

In addition to his prison time, Estes has to register as a sex offender and pay $1,629 in fines.

The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 board accepted Estes’ resignation days after his arrest at his apartment in the 600 block of North Bishop Street, according to reports.

Estes was a non-tenured business teacher with Plainfield North.

He also was adviser of Plainfield North’s yearbook club during the 2012-13 school year, according to the school’s website.
