A man was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side early Sunday.

The 27-year-old was on a sidewalk in the 12200 block of South Halsted about 2:45 a.m. when a group of people opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The man was shot in the ankle and another bullet grazed his wrist, Alfaro said. He took himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Police said the man has documented gang ties.
