A trustee for the south suburban village of Dixmoor is facing assault charges after he allegedly pointed a handgun at two men during an argument last month.

Ira Rolark, 39, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault for the Nov. 9 incident in the 14600 block of South Cooper in Dixmoor, said Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Rolark is an elected trustee for the village of Dixmoor, Ansari said.

He was arguing with two other men outside in a residential area when he pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at them while flashing his trustee badge, sheriff’s police claim.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt, Ansari said. The two victims reported the incident to Dixmoor police the next day, and the department turned the case over to the sheriff’s office in late November.

Rolark was arrested Thursday and posted bond, Ansari said. He will next appear in court Jan. 30 at the Markham courthouse.
