A man was shot in the abdomen in the South Side West Englewood neighborhood Friday night.

The 19-year-old was in the 6400 block of South Wolcott when he was shot in the abdomen about 7:05 p.m., police said, citing preliminary information.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
