(PARK RIDGE) A west suburban man has been charged with burglary and violating his sex offender registration for allegedly breaking into a northwest suburban home last month.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Dempster in Park Ridge on Sept. 21 and found that the front window had been smashed and a burglary had taken place, a statement from Park Ridge police said.

On Wednesday, officers driving in the 2000 block of Dempster saw a man matching the description of the burglary suspect riding a bicycle and took him into custody, police said.

Vashawn R. Jackson, 25, of the 8900 block of West Robin Drive in Des Plaines, was charged with one count each of burglary and violation of sex offender registration, police said.

A judge on Friday ordered Jackson held on a $5,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office. He is next due in court Oct. 8.
