One dead, three injured in Humboldt Park shooting

One man was killed and three others wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 700 block of North St. Louis, police said.

Three men, ages 31, 24 and 23, were in a vehicle when a van drove by, and someone inside fired shots, police said. A 26-year-old who wasn’t in the vehicle was also shot. Police said this man may have been a pedestrian, but a fire department spokesman said he was found inside a home.

The 23-year-old, identified as Tyris T. Ferguson, was shot multiple times and taken to Mount Sinai, where he was pronounced dead at 12:59 p.m., authorities said. He lived one block north of the shooting.

The other two men from the vehicle were taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital. The 24-year-old was shot multiple times on his body, while the 31-year-old was shot in his arms and legs, police said.

The 26-year-old had a gunshot wound to his lower leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
