Lake Villa elementary school on ‘soft lockdown’

(LAKE VILLA) A Lake Villa elementary school is on soft lockdown Thursday morning because of police activity in the northern suburb.

Thompson School, at 515 Thompson Ln. in Lake Villa, is on soft lockdown due to police activity in the area as of 8:30 a.m., according to a statement on Lake Villa District 41’s website.

A suspect ran from the Round Lake area and police are searching for the person, prompting the lockdown, according to Lake Villa police. Further details were not immediately available.
