Two people were taken into custody after a van crashed through the front window of Neiman Marcus early Wednesday on the Magnificent Mile.
Officers responding to a call of a theft in progress about 4 a.m. at Neiman Marcus, 737 N. Michigan Ave., found a van crashed through the front window of the store, police said, citing preliminary information.
A number of handbags were seen scattered on the ground outside the store, but police could not immediately confirm whether any merchandise was stolen.
Several males were observed running away from the scene, and two people have been taken into custody in connection with the crash, police said.
Police said Wednesday morning that Area Central detectives were investigating whether there are connections with at least four similar incidents in which merchandise was stolen during crash-and-grab burglaries throughout the last several months.
