Man killed in Elgin shooting

(ELGIN) An Elgin man was killed Tuesday in a shooting in the northwest suburb Tuesday.

About 10 p.m., emergency officials responded to the area of Sherman Avenue and St. Charles Street and found the 20-year-old lying in a yard, Elgin police said in a statement.

Alberto Prado, of the 400 block of St. Charles Street, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he later died.

Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at (847) 289-2646 or text an anonymous tip to 847411 with the word “ELGINPD.” Callers can also leave an anonymous tip on the department’s crime line at (847) 695-4195.
