Lake in the Hills man charged with selling pot

(LAKE IN THE HILLS) A northwest suburban man is facing multiple drug charges for allegedly selling marijuana.

Officials began investigating 21-year-old Matthew A. Sorich after residents in his Lake in the Hills community complained that he was selling marijuana, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Detectives were able to conduct multiple undercover drug purchases from Sorich over a two-month period, the sheriff’s office said. During the investigation, detectives seized about 13.8 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $276.

On Thursday, while Sorich was already incarcerated at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility on an unrelated battery charge, he was served with a felony arrest warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.

He is charged with one felony and one misdemeanor count of delivery of cannabis, as well as two misdemeanor counts of possession, the sheriff’s office said.

Sorich’s bond was set at $20,000 and his next court date is scheduled for Nov. 7, according to the sheriff’s office.
