A man charged with fatally shooting a man on a Chatham neighborhood porch in September was ordered held on $1 million bond.

Erick T. Horton, 34, is charged with one count of first-degree murder for the Sept. 4 shooting that killed Nigell D. Vazquez in the 8600 block of South Ingleside, authorities said.

Vazquez, 22, was standing on a porch about 8:30 p.m. when two people walked up and started shooting, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Vazquez, of the 1700 block of East 56th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 9:29 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Horton, of the 10800 block of South Edbrooke Avenue, allegedly shot the man in twice in the back, police News Affairs said in a statement.

Horton’s bond was set at $1 million at a hearing Saturday.
