(OAK LAWN) Seven people were being questioned by police Friday after a person was shot in an apparent robbery attempt and subsequent fight in southwest suburban Oak Lawn.

Oak Lawn police said the robbery occurred about 11:45 p.m. Thursday near 108th Street and Georgia Lane. The victim suffered a “non-life threatening gunshot wound,” a statement from police said.

The victim was driven to Advocate Christ Medical Center, and shortly afterwards, “there was a disturbance involving friends of the victim and another group,” police said.

Six people are in custody in relation to the fight at the hospital, and a seventh is being questioned about the alleged robbery, police said.

Police do not believe the robbery was random, and are “investigating the possibility of a connection between the two events,” the statement said.
