Teen shot in Humboldt Park

A teenage boy who told police he was shot on the West Side early Sunday later walked into Norwegian American Hospital.

The 16-year-old boy told police he was walking in the 3600 block of West North about 1 a.m. when he heard nine gunshots and ran home, according to a police source.

When he arrived home he realized he was bleeding, but went to sleep, according to the source.

About 12 hours later, at 2:15 p.m., the boy took himself to Norwegian American Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg, police said. He was listed in good condition.

Investigators tried to find evidence of a shooting where the boy said he was shot, but nothing was found, according to the source.
