Police are warning businesses about the armed robberies of two cell phone stores in Garfield Ridge and Chatham this week.

In both robberies, which occurred on Thursday, robbers entered cell phone stores, displayed a handgun and forced employees and witnesses into a back room where they demanded a manager open the safe, according to a police alert.

The first robbery happened in the 5600 block of South Harlem at 10:37 a.m., and the next in the 200 block of West 87th Street at 12:50 p.m., police said.
