Police issued an alert Thursday warning businesses in the South Side Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood neighborhoods of a recent string of burglaries.

The burglars break glass on the businesses’ front doors, take cash from registers and break into ATMs and safes, according to the community alert from Area South detectives.

The incidents occur during the early morning hours, between 12:30 and 7 a.m., police said.

After some of the burglaries, the suspects have been seen fleeing in a small black pickup truck and a maroon Ford Expedition.

Police advise businesses in the neighborhoods to have a working alarm system, keep cash hidden and secure, and maintain lighting over all entrances.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8273.
