Devante Bolden, 21, of the 2200 block of East 79th Street is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, authorities said. He also faces misdemeanor counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving without insurance and cannabis possession, as well as a traffic citation.

Joshua Sharp, 17, of the 100 block of East 71st Street is also charged with attempted first-degree murder and a misdemeanor count of possession of cannabis, according to police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Bolden and Sharp appeared in court Wednesday and were each ordered held on a $1 million bond, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

The shooting happened in the 7100 block of South Cyril about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said. A 29-year-old man was shot twice in the legs and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

Officers saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene that matched the description given by witnesses, police said. The officers pulled the vehicle over, and arrested Bolden and the teen a short distance away.

Police said a weapon was found at the scene.

Bolden is next scheduled to appear in court Dec. 17, and Sharp is scheduled to appear Dec. 30.
