(ELGIN) Three people suspected of a pair of robberies last week in the northwest suburbs are facing charges in connection to one of the hold-ups.

About 10 p.m. Oct. 28, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at 7-Eleven in the 900 block of Summit Street in Elgin, a statement from Elgin police said. Two males entered the store — one while showing a handgun — demanded cash from the register and left with money and cigarettes.

About 11:45 p.m. that same night, a 7-Eleven in the 500 block of Landmeier Road in Elk Grove Village was robbed, police said.

Elk Grove Village police later arrested three people: Mark Ayala, 18, of the 4100 block of North Central Park Avenue; 22-year-old Reuben Miller, of the 1500 block of Birch Avenue in Hanover Park; and 19-year-old Kristie L. McGillis, of the 1200 block of Carswell Avenue in Elk Grove Village.

Police suspect the three were involved in both incidents, but they have only been charged in connection to the Elgin robbery as of early Saturday. They each face one felony count of armed robbery.

On Friday, a Cook County judge ordered Miller held on a $175,000 bond, while Ayala was ordered held on $100,000 and McGillis was held on $50,000, police said.
