Man charged with DUI for fatal Aurora crash

(AURORA) A west suburban man has been charged with DUI for allegedly being under the influence of marijuana when he caused a 2013 crash that killed a 78-year-old woman in Aurora.

Paris T. Lisy, 22, was driving a 2000 Ford Contour on May 16, 2013, when he lost control and the car crashed into two parked vehicles in a parking lot in the 700 block of New Haven Avenue, according to Aurora police.

Mary Ellen Niemeyer, 78, and a 58-year-old man were standing outside of a car when the Ford struck it, police said. The force of the crash sent the parked car into them and knocked them to the ground.

The second parked vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the crash, police said.

Niemeyer and the man were taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, police said. The man was treated for serious injuries to his head, neck and back.

Niemeyer suffered “massive head trauma” and was airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where she died on May 24, 2013, police said.

A blood sample taken from Lisy after the crash tested positive for marijuana, police said.

Lisy, of the 2100 block of Pleasure View Road in Aurora, was charged Tuesday with four counts of aggravated DUI, police said. He was ordered held at the Kane County Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond.
