Two more men have filed a joint lawsuit against the Archdiocese of Chicago and Cardinal Francis George, alleging more abuses under convicted child molester and defrocked priest Daniel McCormack. The two men filed the lawsuit anonymously Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. Both men allege that between 2000 and 2001, McCormack sexually abused the boys while at St. Agatha’s School on the West Side.
McCormack was originally arrested for sex crimes in January 2006, the Sun-Times reported previously. He was removed from the priesthood in November 2007 and pleaded guilty that year to abusing five children while he was a parish priest at St. Agatha on Chicago’s West Side. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Last June, McCormack was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a 2005 incident involving a minor boy, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Chicago could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
The combined eight-count suit seeks more than $400,000 in damages.
