Theo Epstein stalker pleads guilty, gets 24 months of probation

The stalker of Cubs President Theo Epstein pleaded guilty but mentally ill Monday to one count of stalking and was sentenced to 24 months of probation in a plea deal with prosecutors.

Kathleen Kearney will have her probation transferred to Massachusetts where she lives and where she will continue to undergo mental health treatment.

Kearney did not speak at length during the brief plea hearing, and Epstein was not present.

Cook County Judge Michael McHale entered a permanent order against Kearney barring her from having any contact with Epstein. Kearney will also be required to continue to be monitored by GPS during her probation.
