(MAYWOOD) A man accused of driving off after he hit and seriously injured a bicyclist near west suburban Franklin Park was ordered held on $6,000 bond Tuesday.

Emmanuel Garcia, 23, of Melrose Park, was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and failing to report an injury accident for the crash near Mannheim Road and Montana Avenue, the Cook County Sheriffs office said in a statement.

The bicyclist was crossing Mannheim Road 10 p.m. Saturday when a black Ford Mustang speeding southbound on Mannheim hit him, Cook County Sheriff’s police said in a statement.

The car did not stop and was later found parked in Northlake with body damage, police said. The bicyclist, a 44-year-old man, was seriously hurt and taken to a local hospital, police said.

Investigators later determined Garcia had been driving the Mustang, sheriff’s police claim. He was arrested Sunday.

He was ordered held on $6,000 bond at a hearing Tuesday at the Maywood courthouse.
