(ST. CHARLES) A Chicago man was arrested after police found $20,000 worth of heroin in his vehicle during a northwest suburban traffic stop, authorities claim.

Sershawn Nicholson, 34, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, according to the Kane County sheriff’s office.

About 10 a.m. Wednesday, deputies pulled over a Toyota traveling west on the Jane Addams Tollway near Powers Road after it made an improper lane change, police said.

Police searched the vehicle after a deputy noticed an odor of burnt cannabis coming from inside, police said. Nearly 213 grams of heroin, with a street value of $20,000, was found in the vehicle, police claim.

Nicholson, of the 2000 block of West 65th Street, was ordered held on a $300,000 bond and is being held at the Kane County jail.
