Practice pays off for Lincoln-Way West in win over Lincoln-Way Central

The way Marco Pettinato saw it, Lincoln-Way West was supposed to be better from the outside.

“We really felt we haven’t been shooting the ball as well as we’re capable of,’’ the Warriors point guard said. “So we’ve been really hitting shooting in this break we’ve had because we haven’t played since last Tuesday.’’

The extra shooting practice paid off Friday night.

West hit 8-of-11 shots to start the game, raced to a 21-8 first-quarter lead and held off Lincoln-Way Central in the fourth quarter for a 55-48 SouthWest Suburban Red road win in the battle of New Lenox.
