They burned the barn down Friday at Aurora Central Catholic as St Edward was finally able to squelch an exciting comeback by the Chargers and escape with a 74-70 win in the Metro Suburban.

A trio of Green Wave guards helped stake St. Edward (9-2, 3-0) to comfortable leads in the second quarter and again to close out the third.

But Kelvin Cortez-Harvey, who finished with 19 points, teamed with Gino Domel (13 points) and Joseph French (14 points) to be clutch at the finish in handling the Chargers’ pressure and at the free-throw line.
