(MAYWOOD) A west suburban man charged with advertising prostitution on a website was ordered held on a $25,000 bond Friday.

Abraham Banda, 31, of Lyons, faces two counts of promoting prostitution, a Class 4 felony, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.

During a month-long investigation, authorities “learned that Banda was arranging prostitution for financial gain in the western suburbs,” the statement said.

The sheriff’s office said the prostitution operation was advertised through Backpage.com.

Banda was arrested Wednesday in North Riverside while on his way to pick up proceeds from the prostitution operation, the sheriff’s office said.

On Friday, he was ordered held on a $25,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 8 at the Maywood Courthouse.
