(RIVERDALE) One person was dead after a shooting that led to a police chase in the south suburbs and an arrest on Chicago’s Far South Side, official said.

Riverdale Police received a call of shots fired and responded to a home in the 13800 block of Stewart Avenue about 4:30 p.m., police said in a statement.

Officers found two people who had been shot inside the home, a female whose injuries were not life-threatening and a 35-year-old man, police said.

The man, identified as Kevin Denson, was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where he was pronounced dead at 5:17 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A person of interest was being questioned by police Tuesday night.

An Illinois State Police official said a police chase was reported about the same time of the shooting. Riverdale police sought a person wanted for attempted murder and aggravated battery about 4:30 p.m., the official said, citing radio dispatch reports.

The chase ended at 116th and Laflin in Chicago, and the person being pursued was taken into custody, State Police said.

Two other people were in the vehicle, but further details about them were not yet known, officials said.

Chicago police deferred comment to suburban authorities, and Riverdale police could not provide details about the chase.
