White Sox decline to tender 2015 contracts to Carroll, Snodgress

The Chicago White Sox have declined to tender 2015 contracts to pitchers Scott Carroll and Scott Snodgress.

Carroll, 30, went 5-10 with a 4.80 ERA over 26 appearances (19 starts) with the White Sox last season, his first in the major leagues.

Snodgress, 25, spent most of the 2014 season in the White Sox minor-league system, going 6-7 with a 3.89 ERA over 21 starts between Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham.

The Sox are expected to offer contracts to five players who are arbitration-eligible before the 10:59 p.m. deadline: Catcher Tyler Flowers, outfielder Dayan Viciedo and right-handers Javy Guerra, Nate Jones and Hector Noesi. MLB Trade Rumors projects 2015 salaries of $4.4 million for Viciedo, $2.1 million for Flowers, $1.9 million for Noesi, $1.3 million for Guerra and $600,000 for Jones. In recovery from Tommy John Surgery, Jones is not expected back before the middle of the season.

The moves bring the White Sox’ 40-man roster to 39.
