Crystal Lake South was able to match Zion-Benton shot-for-shot for three quarters, but the Gators had no answer for Admiral Schofield in the fourth.
The 6-foot-6, 210-pound senior forward, one of the state’s top players, started the quarter with a dunk and 3-point play and the defending champion Zee-Bees went on to win, 78-66, in their Pool IV opener at Jacobs’ Hinkle Holiday Classic Saturday at the Eagles’ Nest.
Schofield, who is signed with Tennessee, scored 15 of his game-high 29 in the fourth quarter.
