A man was shot Saturday night during a robbery in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 39-year-old man was seated in a vehicle about 9:05 p.m. in the 700 block of North Leclaire when two males, one of which was armed with a handgun, walked up and announced a robbery, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The man handed over cash and the armed robber then fired shots, striking the man in the arm and leg, Greer said.

The man then sped away in his vehicle, Greer said. He was later taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
