Is Cameron Diaz engaged to Benji Madden?

Though Cameron Diaz has long said marriage was not a priority for her, reports have circulated for the past few weeks that the actress and rocker Benji Madden are planning to wed.

No comment yet from either Diaz’s or Madden’s camps, but Us Weekly is citing “multiple sources” who claim the couple are indeed engaged. Diaz has been spotted wearing what appears to be an engagement ring on her left hand. The “Annie” star and Madden have only been dating for about seven months. They were originally set up by Benji’s twin brother, Joel Madden, who is married to Nicole Richie.

While the couple have been seen being very affectionate all over L.A., neither one of them has publicly uttered a word about their relationship. They also have been very careful not to arrive or depart together from events — such as red carpet openings — where they know paparazzi will be on hand in abundance.

Over the years, Diaz has said she doesn’t feel she needs a marriage license to prove the worth of any romantic relationship she might have. In an interview with Maxim magazine in 2011, the actress said she thought the institution of marriage itself might be outdated: “I don’t think we should live our lives in relationships based off old traditions that don’t suit our world any longer.”

If, in fact, Diaz and Madden would walk down the aisle, it would be the first marriage for both of them.
