David Schwimmer will play Robert Kardashian in O.J. mini-series

Chicago’s own David Schwimmer will portray the late Robert Kardashian in the upcoming anthology series “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” the true crime offshoot of Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. will play Simpson in the 10-episode miniseries, while Sarah Paulson — who plays the conjoined twins on the current season of “American Horror Story: Freak Show” — will play lead prosecutor Marcia Clark. Production on the FX series is set to begin early next year in Los Angeles.

The series will focus on the infamous “trial of the century,” examining it from the perspective of both the prosecution and the defense.

It is unclear how closely the series will stick to the source material on which it is based: Jeffrey Toobin’s “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.”

Still to be announced is the casting for other key players in the O.J. Simpson case: Robert Shapiro, F. Lee Bailey, Alan Dershowitz, Johnnie Cochran, Mark Fuhrman, Kato Kaelin and Judge Lance Ito.

• In real-life Kardashian news, we’ve learned the name of Kourtney Kardashian’s new baby: Reign Aston Disick. The father is Scott Disick, Kardashian’s longtime boyfriend and fellow TV reality star — who also is the father of the couple’s two older children.
