Amy Adams dropped by ‘Today’ over Sony hacking question

Just as we learn “The Interview” may now be heading back — in very limited release — into a handful of movie theaters Christmas Day, we also learn that Amy Adams’ reluctance to chat about the whole Sony Entertainment hacking crisis led to the actress being axed by “Today” at the last minute Monday. Adams was on the morning show to promote her “Big Eyes” film, also opening Thursday.

However, right before she was scheduled to go on the air, the actress was informed by producers she would be asked about the hacking scandal. Adams name did crop up in some of the leaked emails, but in a minor way compared to stars like Angelina Jolie, Will Smith and others. There was correspondence that revealed Adams was paid less than her male co-stars in “American Hustle,” released last year.

Apparently, though Adams very reluctantly agreed to respond to Sony questions, “Today” producers decided to cancel her appearance, convinced she would not be very forthcoming about the hacking situation. From the actress’ point of view, her main concern was to promote her new movie in the few minutes she would be given on the air.
