Man seriously wounded in Beverly shooting

A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Beverly neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened in the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway about 2 p.m., police said.

The 22-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A police source said the victim is a documented gang member and a convicted felon, and the shooting may have happened during a robbery.
