Police: Men posing as electrical workers robbing elderly women in Lake View

Police are searching for men who have posed as electrical workers and twice robbed elderly women in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

In the most recent scam, a 68-year-old woman had her wallet stolen about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 1600 block of West Barry, when the robbers walked up to the woman’s vehicle and told her that they could fill holes in her house’s foundation, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

About 2 p.m. Dec. 18, three white men, between the ages of 30 and 40, posed as electrical workers and walked into a 91-year-old woman’s home saying they were there to perform a service check, police said. Once inside, one of the men distracted the woman while another removed cash from her purse.
