(ORLAND PARK) A 71-year-old man died on Christmas Day after he was hit by a car in southwest suburban Orland Park.

Jack Haggerty was a pedestrian crossing 104th Avenue eastbound at San Luis Lane at 7:27 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a 2005 Honda Accord, according to Orland Park police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Haggerty was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 7:56 p.m., the coroner’s office said.

The 16-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger were also taken to Silver Cross to be treated for minor injuries, police said. Police did not specify their genders.

There have been no charges filed or citations issues in relation to the crash as of Friday afternoon, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.
