A man who was fatally shot early Saturday in the West Ridge neighborhood has been identified.

Danial Zaffar, 18, was found shot in the head in an alley about 5 a.m. in the 5700 block of North Campbell, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy performed Sunday found Zaffar–whose home address wasn’t known–died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Earlier Saturday, at about 2:40 a.m., two men were attacked following an altercation about a woman in the 5700 block of North California, or about half-a-mile away from the shooting, according to police.

In that incident, a 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the back and hand. He was taken to Our Lady Resurrection Hospital in critical condition and was later transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.

A 27-year-old man was also struck in the head with a blunt object, police said. He was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital in good condition.

Police could not confirm if the two incidents were related.
