A 56-year-old woman was shot in a vehicle Sunday night in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood.

The woman was sitting inside the vehicle in the 9200 block of South Throop about 7:30 p.m. when someone walked up and started shooting, police said.

The woman was shot in the back and leg, police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where her condition had stabilized.
