Tommy Koth had a feeling he was due for a big night Monday against Lockport.

Why? Because West Aurora coach Gordie Kerkman told his senior so.

“Before the game, Coach told us he was watching film and they looked a little weak on defensive rebounding,” Koth said. “So he told us to crash the boards and rebound, and that’s what we did.”

With Koth taking care of that and West Aurora’s guards pressuring a deliberate Lockport team into 13 turnovers, the Blackhawks cruised to a 53-40 win in the first round of the Pontiac Holiday Tournament.
