A day after a 10-year-old girl reported that a man tried to lure her into a van on the Northwest Side, police now say the attempt was unfounded.

Early Wednesday, police issued a community alert saying a man tried to lure a girl into his van in the 7000 block of West Bloomingdale about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, police issued an updated alert, saying the reported luring was baseless.
