Police are warning residents after a man groped a teenage girl while she was walking in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side Monday night.

The girl was walking southbound in the 4400 block of North Sacramento about 7:15 p.m. when she passed a man who was walking northbound, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

As she crossed the north alley of Montrose, she heard a noise behind her and felt the man reach under her jacket and forcefully grope her from behind, police said. She then saw him run westbound down the alley as she turned and ran to her home nearby.

The suspect is described as a short man, possibly 5 feet tall or shorter, with a medium complexion and dark eyes, police said. He was wearing a black scarf covering the lower half of his face and an oversized, pistachio-colored winter jacket with a nylon outer layer and an attached hood.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
